Need a New Hobby?

Not me, but I know some folk here who would love this...making your own perfume.

At Riversdale's "Lady's Day in the Country" last year, we made our own perfumes with scents that would have been around c. 1800. It was a lot of fun though we used synthetics since the natural tinctures were heinously expensive. I need to remember to wear mine.

At the end of the article, they give directions for making your own tinctures. It only takes grain alcohol, flowers and a lot of patience. I'm all for the synthetic!

Yeah I just don't have the patience to do that. :) I do have an aunt that makes organic goat milk soap though.

Kind of blending the two thoughts...a friend who was recently "realigned" or "restructured" out of a job used to travel as part of his work, and he'd bring home with him those little individually wrapped soaps you get in the hotel or motel.
One of them is the BEST-smelling citrus---!

I'd love to be making my own soap, and if I could figure out how to duplicate that fragrance.... I'd be walking on air.
